CIVIL LITIGATION

Our outstanding litigation courses and faculty have long drawn students to attend Suffolk University Law School. Over 100 years of tradition in preparing ethical and effective litigators has earned Suffolk University Law School a reputation for excellence in this cornerstone of legal practice.

As part of our continuing efforts to provide our students with the skills necessary to thrive in today's challenging legal market, we are pleased to announce that the former Macaronis Civil Litigation Concentration has become the Macaronis Trial and Appellate Advocacy Concentration as of September 2012.  Most significantly, the Concentration's curricular offerings have been expanded to include our wide variety of courses which focus on aspects of criminal law.The revitalized Concentration will enable students to pursue training for careers in both civil and criminal law, and to better position themselves to join the scores of Suffolk Law alumni who are among the most successful trial lawyers, judges and public servants in the nation.

The Concentration is designed to recognize those exceptional students who have not only focused their course of law school study in the litigation area, but also have excelled in their studies. The requirements for the Concentration are rigorous, and those students who take the challenge can be assured that they are among the best-trained law school graduates in the country in the field of litigation.

The Concentration includes five required core courses and participation in a clinical program or internship approved by the Concentration Faculty Director. The Concentration also gives credit for numerous electives related to litigation. The core courses provide the general litigation skills required in practice. The internship or clinical experience gives students the opportunity to put classroom learning into real-world application. Electives allow students to focus on areas of law that correspond to individual interest.

Suffolk University Law School is proud that its curricular offerings in trial and appellate advocacy are among the most extensive in the country. We encourage students to take advantage of the opportunities that the Macaronis Trial and Appellate Advocacy Concentration offers to learn to be superlative litigators.
