| Suffolk University Law School offers a wide array of international
courses, ranging from public international law to international
business transactions, and comparative legal cultures, as well
as the option to specialize with the international law concentration.
These offerings stress the impact of multiple legal systems
on transactions and resolution of disputes, and the role of
the lawyers in the world economy.
Almost every field of law now contains a substantial international
element. Training students in a variety of international
law subjects equips them to practice in a legal world necessarily
reaching beyond national borders. Students may opt to study
at a foreign law school or perhaps gain work experience overseas
with an international internship, or even choose to participate
in a three-week foreign summer program at the University
of Lund, Sweden. Students can choose among the programs listed
below. |

The International Law Concentration was established to recognize
and build upon the trend toward international commerce and global
human relations. The Concentration is intended to respond to articulated
student interest in international law and is open to anyone with
a genuine interest in pursuing this rapidly expanding area.
Suffolk University Law School has an exclusive agreement with
the Center for International Legal Studies (CILS) to offer Internships
to U.S. law students and Externships. International internships
are available to JD students for credit in conformity with the
American Bar Association guidelines, and international externships
are for LLM students and other post-graduates with law degrees.
Study abroad is now an essential part of legal training. The Summer
Law Program provides U.S. law students with an opportunity to participate
in comparative and international public and private law courses
while living in the charming, medieval city of Lund, Sweden. The
close interaction of law students and law faculty from the University
of Lund and other international law faculties distinguishes Suffolk’s
program from most other foreign summer law programs and offers
students an excellent opportunity to learn about different legal
cultures.
Though the option for individual study abroad is limited, Suffolk
University Law School students may spend a semester at a foreign
law school. A limited number of students may be approved for such
study.
The program in United States Law and Legal Methods is a one-week
summer program in Lund, Sweden. It is designed specifically for
lawyers, law graduates, and advanced and doctoral students who
want an introduction to the American Legal System. This program
is also appropriate as a base course for anyone who may eventually
wish to participate in a U.S. LLM law program.
One or two Suffolk University Law students or graduates will be
selected for a nomination to the tuition-free program in European
Affairs at the University of Lund. Designed to provide advanced
knowledge of legal, business, and political aspects of European
affairs, this program is a unique opportunity for the right student.
The Program will commence in July 2006 and will be offered in
Budapest, Hungary at Eotvos Lorand University Faculty of Law. The
facilities and classrooms at the law school are first rate. Library
resources, technology and administrative support are all included
in the program.
Technology is transforming the way lawyers think and work, while
globalization is transforming the law itself. To be competitive
in this new world will require special skills and knowledge. The
LL.M. in Global Technology at Suffolk University Law School provides
students with the expertise to be prepared for the practice of
law in the 21st Century. Specialize in one of four tracks, or select
from a wide range of courses to choose your own professional program.
