ALS IP CERTIFICATE

A New Cutting Edge Credential

Jointly Sponsored by Advanced Legal Studies and the Intellectual Property Law Concentration

Suffolk's award-winning Advanced Legal Studies and premiere IP Law Concentration join forces to present a unique educational opportunity. Experienced in providing legal education for busy professionals for 30 years, Advanced Legal Studies creates academically sound and practical conferences and programs. The distinguished IP Law Concentration has graduated lawyers who now practice in every major IP law firm in Boston.

The IP Certificate is issued by Advanced Legal Studies upon completion of 33 hours of course time. This is a non-degree program.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?

The non-degree IP Certificate will expand your practice and knowledge and enhance your value for your organization. A basic understanding of intellectual property is a must for every lawyer and business person. Intellectual property now represents the largest portion of the value of many companies. Technology and the Internet are only accelerating this trend with a growing range of protectable intangible assets, from domain names to web-based business methods. Today, there are few-if any-transactions which do not include intellectual property matters.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

  • Provide an overview of the nuts and bolts of IP law, and understanding of transactions involving IP and the resolution of IP disputes
  • Enable participants to become conversant in the language of IP Law.
  • Provide the skills necessary to interact with professionals such as IP attorneys, venture capitalists and others who develop, market and work with IP.

The classes are taught by full-time law school professors, members of the adjunct faculty and expert practitioners.
