The Unique Role of a CHINS Attorney Identifying the issues and working with the family; Establishing and negotiating a relationship with the child and parent; Finding a service for the child and family - State and community agencies; DSS is often used as a default for services - what else is available? Special education. How to aggressively advocate?
CHINS and Delinquency - round table discussion Discussion of the goals of the CHINS statute and how to utilize the law to benefit your client; Innovative use of SPED laws in CHINS cases; Discussion of strategies to prevent/ slow the transition from DSS to DYS custody. A summation of strategies to achieve the goal of better representation and obtaining services to prevent delinquency.
