Conditions are ripe for U.S. lawyers to develop an international practice. In particular, the significant contacts between the U.S. and Europe facilitate entree by lawyers and businesses into the European Union. According to the ABA Journal, "Right now, the opportunity to expand into foreign markets may be greater than ever for lawyers working in everything from solo practices to national firms." And if opening a foreign branch isn't feasible, liaison relationships with law firms in other countries is a viable alternative.

What anyone who is already doing business in Europe will tell you is that you must understand the idiosyncrasies and nuances of E.U. law and practice. What is unique about this program is the participation of lawyers who are practicing in the E.U. Together with local practitioners, they will give you the E.U. perspective that is crucial to successful practice. This program is designed to provide both a framework and an update for doing business with the countries of the European Union

Who Should Attend:
If you do business or have clients who do business or intend to do business in the future in Europe, you will have the opportunity to learn about legal and business issues in substantive areas that should be of value both to the business person and the practitioner.

Attend and Learn:
  • Overview of EU Law
  • Substantive and procedural developments in EU competition law
  • Present differences between the US and EPO
  • Organizing and Implementing Pan-Euro Redundancies
