Forecasting the Future of Copyright gives you the up to date critical and contemporary issues arising under copyright law. Suffolk’s annual Intellectual Property Law Conference presents the leading national experts to provide insight into what is predicted for the future. It also explores the potential controversies arising between competing interests within the world of copyright.

The rapid development and reliance on technology increases the importance of utilizing intellectual property law. Copyright law, one branch of intellectual property law, was originally created to protect published works such as books. However, the domain of copyright has rapidly expanded today to provide protection for virtually all original works of authorship. This expansion has created significant issues. Many authors welcome this expansion because of concerns about lost revenue due to the proliferation of unauthorized copies of books, periodicals, movies and music. Other constituencies are concerned that the protections provided by current copyright law are so broad that negative societal impacts will result. For example, broad application of copyright law may limit dissemination of information. It may also interfere with historically protected free speech activities such as creation of parodies or reliance on "fair use."

Attend this conference and learn about the latest issues and gain the knowledge you need to represent your clients into the future.
