CHILD SUPPORT GUIDELINES: NEW SOLUTIONS TO OLD PROBLEMS

What are the changes to the new guidelines, and what impact are they likely to have? According to Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly, “The state’s new child support guidelines, revised for the first time since they were implemented in 1987, are being interpreted as representing a major shift in that area of domestic relations law, in considering both parents’ income, expanding the pool of parents who must pay child support and offering guidance on when it is necessary for a judge to deviate from the rules.”

Attend and learn from an interactive discussion with numerous members of the Child Support Guideline Task Force about the new child support guidelines—how to use the new guidelines, how they are different from existing guidelines, impact of the new guidelines on existing orders, deviations from the guidelines, utilizing the worksheet and making effective arguments under the new guidelines.

This program, happening six weeks after the effective date of January 1, will focus on implementation challenges and the more complex practice issues.

Tuition:  

Tuition is $149.00 for one session or $249.00 for both. For Suffolk Alumni, members of the AAML, the MBA and attorneys admitted to the bar after 2006, the tuition is $125.00 for one session or $225.00 for both. If you are registering for both sessions, the discount will be taken manually after registration forms are submitted.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION IF YOU'RE PAYING WITH A CHECK:
Suffolk University processes checks electronically using the information on the check to create an electronic funds transfer. Each time you send a check, you authorize a one time transfer of funds to be electronically withdrawn from your bank account. You will not receive your cancelled check as Suffolk University is required to destroy the check after it has been processed. Walk-Ins:  

Space is limited. Registrations at the door are welcome, but please register in advance to reserve a seat and your written course materials or call to confirm space availability.



Refunds:  

Written requests for cancellations received via fax or email 24 hours prior to the program will be granted a refund, minus a $15 charge. If you cannot attend, you may send a substitute, otherwise you will receive the written course materials.
