About the Conference

This unique New England Special Education Regional Conference brings together seasoned practitioners, hearing officers, academics and DOE personnel to explore the new and emerging trends in special education practice. In discussing the current directions that special education is heading, including the implications of a new political landscape, we provide you with the knowledge to handle emerging issues in the field of special education law that appear in your own practice while arming you with tips and ideas from other jurisdictions. You will learn the necessary legal tools and strategies for both everyday practice and the larger trends on the horizon so you can recognize when and how to push the envelope in your own cases.

Attend and Learn:
  • Recent decisions in the First and Second Circuits and Supreme Court and the practical implications and realities of these decisions to your practice

  • Current national and regional trends as seen from the education practitioners in the front lines and in the Academy

  • Understanding RTI and how to apply it to your cases

  • What Hearing Officers from different states deem as best practices to apply to your own cases

  • What the Supreme Court has to say about prospective funding, reimbursement, and the role of parents and how that affects your practice

This program is intended for practitioners in the New England states who are already practicing in the area of special education law, or are setting up a practice in special education law. Also beneficial to Education Advocates.
