This conference will put you at the epicenter of the latest significant changes and developments in Massachusetts and New England regarding “green” power developments for every element of legal practice – business, real estate, litigation, and regulatory. In the past year, there has been a host of new state statutes and regulations and federal regulation stressing green buildings, new community-scale initiatives for renewable energy development, a new “smart” grid, and energy efficiency. It is time that we focus on the new tasks for legal counsel associated with these developments.

At the conclusion of this compact late afternoon program, you will have developed a “green” legal thumb. Legal counsel from the key state utility, environmental, and energy regulatory agencies will take the audience into the new “green” environment of recent regulations and legal opportunities. We will cover net metering, long-term contracting, benefiting from renewable credits and alternative compliance mechanism. Representatives of the Cape Wind project and local wind projects, as well as representatives of an industry that has implemented energy efficiency options, will complement these presentations.

Lawyers involved in corporate law and business, regulatory representation, litigation, energy law, environmental law, and real estate will benefit from attending this conference.

Attend and Learn:
  • About the dramatic shifts on the state and federal regulatory stage
  • What are the new opportunities, as well as requirements, for businesses across the Northeast
  • About the significant financial opportunities for any business or property that chooses to net-meter its electricity supply
  • How to create and trade renewable and carbon credits in Massachusetts
  • How new Federal building codes augment local building codes
