This Conference presents a mock scenario that includes three acts, each of which takes place at a different point in the planning and lifecycle of a Boston-based company as it seeks both to exploit and protect its intellectual property, first locally and then as it expands internationally.
The Mock Scenario: After the recent discovery of a significant innovation to encourage hair growth, HareGrow, Inc. (“HGI”), a Boston-based company, seeks advice for protecting and commercializing its intellectual property. The technology involves a biotechnology compound and a series of six treatments – including a specialized 15-minute audio therapy – that will restore hair growth and luster. HGI is currently maintaining its technology as a secret. The company is also considering whether to obtain protection for its company acronym, HGI, and its newly chosen brand name, HG AUGMENTA. HGI’s questions range from obtaining initial protection for its IP and the costs of doing so, to expanding internationally in China and the EU, to strategies for attracting further investment.
Who Should Attend:
The conference addresses a wide range of legal and business advice on commercial and IP issues. It will be beneficial to IP and business lawyers, in-house counsel and business people, as well as law students interested in IP and commercial law matters.
Attend and Learn:
- How to exploit and protect IP in the EU and China
- What are the business issues involved in expanding into those markets
- How to handle cultural differences
- What to do if a dispute arises
