CIVIL AND JUDICIAL INTERNSHIP

The Law School's Internship Program invites students to experience legal practice while enrolled as a law student. Students can tailor a custom law school program by combining doctrinal law classes with different field experiences. Students apply newly acquired legal knowledge to real world problems and this experience enriches the classroom experience. This synthesis of theory and practice builds professional confidence and competence and supports the transition from law school to professional employment.

The Internship Program reflects the Law School's commitment to a legal professionalism grounded in service. The knowledge and skills which students accumulate both inside and outside the law school benefit individuals, organizations and government within every field of practice in the broader society. The Internship experience underscores the inseparability of acquiring professional excellence to fulfill our responsibility to use this knowledge for the greater good.

Students have interned in a wide range of legal settings including: state and federal courts; federal, state and local government agencies; non-profit corporations; legal aid organizations; and private law firms and companies. In these organizations, lawyers committed to mentoring Suffolk Law students supervise work done in the field.

The program provides a space for student reflection upon the practice of law and upon his or her own individual experience. This activity is supported through journals and, reflective exercises.

Please Note:
The Legal Internship Program is described in detail in the "Student Guide" which is available in Room 165.  You may request that a copy be mailed to you at (617)573-8049. After reading the Student Guide, please arrange for an appointment with:
