In order to successfully complete the Health and Biomedical Law Concentration, students must take a minimum of twenty (20) credits in the following approved Health and Biomedical Law Concentration courses, including the two (2) required courses described below. For complete course descriptions, click on the course name.  Please note that not all courses are offered each semester and plan accordingly.  Courses may be taken in any order, but students must comply with any prerequisite course rules for particular courses.  Students who wish to write a Thesis must take the Thesis Seminar by their second semester prior to graduation.

 B. Elective Courses
Health and Biomedical Law Concentration students must take courses totaling fifteen (15) elective credits, in addition to the two (2) required courses totaling five (5) credits.

Beginning in August of 2004, elective credits for the Health and Biomedical Law Concentration will be divided into two Tiers, with Tier 1 containing courses where health or biomedical law is a central theme and Tier 2 containing courses where health or biomedical law is less predominant.

In choosing their electives, concentrators must take at least three (3) courses from Tier 1.  A student's remaining elective courses may be taken from courses listed in either Tier 1 or Tier 2.  No more than eight (8) credits of course work from courses in Tier 2 may count toward the concentration electives.  Limitations on the number of courses permissible from course categories in Tiers 1 and 2 are noted below.

Students who are enrolled in their second, third or fourth years of law school as of August 2004 may elect whether to comply with the new, tiered Health and Biomedical Law Concentration elective course requirements, or to follow the previously unstructured elective course requirements.  All students who enter law in August of 2004 and beyond will be subject to the new, tiered elective course requirements.
