INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY
CONCENTRATION : ENROLLMENT
Enrollment in the IP Law Concentration
is easily accomplished by filing a Notice of Enrollment form with
the Registrar's Office. This can occur as early as the student's
third semester in law school. Formal enrollment in the IP Law Concentration
is complete once the Notice
of Enrollment form is filed.
Once enrolled in the Concentration, students will be invited to participate in a variety of special programs of interest to intellectual property practitioners. Concentration students will be invited to Advanced Legal Studies programs. Recent programs have included such national, prominent intellectual property law experts as Paul Goldstein of Stanford and Jonathan Zittrain of Harvard. Suffolk has also hosted talks by prominent intellectual property attorneys such as Mark Fischer, Ike Williams, Karen Copenhaver, David Gibbs and Lois Wasof. The Concentration is the frequent sponsor of intellectual property symposia featuring nationally recognized academics and lawyers.
Continued enrollment in the IP Law Concentration only requires that a student:
- Complete a sufficient number of the required and elective courses per semester so that it is possible to complete the required eighteen (18) credits in approved IP Law Concentration courses by the time the student graduates; and
- Obtain the approval of one of the Concentration Faculty Director of the student's plan for completing the Concentration's writing requirement. You may also wish to meet with the Administrator of Concentrations, Betsy Roberti, to review your progress in completing the IP Law Concentration requirements.
Upon completion of the required courses, elective courses, the writing
requirement and total credit hours required by the IP Law Concentration,
as discussed more fully below, students must complete and file a Notice
of Concentration Completion form with the Registrar's office.
