COURSE DESCRIPTIONS


Real Estate Litigation
Prof. John Infranca
3 credits day; 3 credits evening.

The course will be taught using a variety of methodologies, including lectures, classroom discussion, and in-class exercises. There will be occasional guest speakers during the semester. Grades will be based upon a final examination, at least one exercise assignment, and class participation.


Faculty comments: This course will build upon the required property course and address in depth a range of litigation involving real estate, property, and land use law. Topics covered will include land sale contracts, tax abatements, mortgages and foreclosure, variances, covenants, landlord-tenant disputes, civil rights law, eminent domain, and other legal actions involving the acquisition and use of real property. The course will also explore legal practice and strategies before specialized courts and administrative agencies and devote some time to discussing these issues in the context of Massachusetts real estate practice.

  Elective Course

  Meets Civil Litigation Concentration Requirements

  Final Exam Required
