COURSE DESCRIPTIONS


Software Law
Mr. Kirk Teska
2 credits day; 2 credits evening.

Software law covers topics such as patents for computer software, copyright protection for computer software, trademark law, the law of trade secrets, contract law, torts, and even criminal and anti-trust law. This course will provide students with a background regarding intellectual property and other types of protection for and rights associated with computer software enabling the general practice or coporate attorney to add value to legal matters involving computer software. The course is also for IP software and legal precepts. One half of each class will be devoted to the statutes, rules, and case law concerning computer software law and the other half of each class will be devoted to practical aspects and applications of the statutes, rules, and case law. Grades will be based on in-class participation (at least one student presentation is required), several exercises, and a final exam.
