COURSE DESCRIPTIONS
Global Internet Governance Law
Prof.
Elizabeth M. McKenzie
2 credits day; 2 credits evening.
This course covers the policies, laws, regulations , and entities that seek to manage and regulate the Internet. Access to the Internet has proven to hold the potential to contribute to global enlightenment, economic and social development, justice and the protection of human rights. Yet the issue of global Internet governance raises sometimes provocative questions about where the control of the Internet should reside. We will review the institutions involved, as well as the perspectives of various governmental and non-governmental stakeholder groups. The related issues of censorship and security are also major topics to be explored in the course. All students in the course will be required to write a paper.
