COURSE DESCRIPTIONS


Drafting Intellectual Property Licenses
Mr. Konstantin Linnik
2 credits day; 2 credits evening.

The course will provide an overview of the basics of licensing all major types of intellectual property: patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets. Students will be required to draft and critique key license provisions for a mock transaction. Other topics discussed will include anatomy of an IP license, different types of licensing strategies, negotiations, valuation, enforcement and tax implications. Grading will be based on in-class participation (25%), take-home assignments (25%) and a multiple choice format final exam (50%).

Students are graded on the 4.0 system.




  Prerequisite: at least one of the following courses: Intellectual Property, Patent Law, Patent Licensing, Trade Secrets Protection

  Elective Course

  Meets Skills Menu Requirement

  Meets Intellectual Property Concentration Requirements

  Final Exam Required
