Complexities of OUI Prosecution

1 credits day; 1 credits evening.

Complexities of OUI Prosecution This course is a one credit course that will be held over two full days on March 2-3, 2013. This course will discuss the complexities of a successful prosecution of operating under the influence cases. A special emphasis will be made to explore the evolving legal challenges of the arrest process, administration of the chemical breath test and defense legal challenges. Students will hear from national and local experts in the field of operating under the influence investigation and prosecution. This course will also provide a presentation of mock direct and cross-examinations of witnesses in an operating under the influence case as well as relevant course informational materials. Students who plan to enter the field of criminal prosecution are especially encouraged to register for this course. There will be no oral presentations or papers required for this course. A multiple choice examination will be administered to students at the end of the course.

The course is graded on a Credit/No Credit basis.
