SUMMER STUDY: SWEDEN : BASIC FACTS

1.   Suffolk University Law School has developed a close working relationship with the Law Faculty of the University of Lund. We exchange faculty on a regular basis and encourage individual faculty from both schools to work together on research and writing projects. Suffolk Law School expects to provide a number of opportunities for its faculty and students to socialize with members of the Lund law faculty and fully expects to continue to develop and nurture this relationship and Lund University and other international law students.

2.   61 students were enrolled in the summer 2007 program: 31 were from Suffolk Law School, 9 were from a U.S. law school other than Suffolk and 20 were International students from various law faculties throughout the world.

3.   Our program is not limited to students from U.S. law schools. From 19 to 20 foreign law students or law graduates and U.S. graduate students or graduates with advanced degrees in other disciplines are also eligible to enroll. In addition, the program is available to U.S. lawyers. As of this date, we expect to enroll 15 students selected by the University of Lund Law Faculty from its student body.

4.   Students are expected to prepare and attend class, and to participate in discussions as they would in any American law school class. Students will be graded on thebasis of either an exam (take home or in class), paper or other method determined by their individual instructor.

NOTE: CLASS ATTENDANCE AND PARTICIPATION IN FORMAL PROGRAM ACTIVITIES SUCH AS RECEPTIONS, GUEST LECTURES AND COURT VISITS IS MANDATORY FOR ALL ENROLLED STUDENTS (AMERICAN AND INTERNATIONAL). STUDENTS WILL BE GRADED IN A MANNER CONSISTENT WITH SUFFOLK UNIVERSITY LAW SCHOOL STANDARDS AND THE REQUIREMENTS OF INDIVIDUAL FACULTY MEMBERS.

Classrooms for the program are located in the University of Lund classroom building adjacent to the Juridicum building. The classrooms are located within the City of Lund approximately a five minute walk from the student housing. The classrooms are newly renovated.

Administrative offices for the program are conveniently located in the Juridicum building adjacent to the classroom building.
