James M. Lynch


 S H O R T   B I O G R A P H Y

James Lynch is currently the Clerk of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Massachusetts. He was selected for this position by the judges of the court in September 1995. Prior to that he served as United States Trustee for Region 1 (Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Rhode Island), having been appointed to that position by U.S. Attorney General Janet Reno. Before his appointment as U.S. Trustee, he was the Clerk of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Rhode Island for more than 14 years.

Prior to attending law school, Mr. Lynch taught English at the secondary level for five years. He began his legal career as a research assistant in the Washington, D.C. office of the late United States Senator John O. Pastore (D-RI). He received his B.A. from Providence College and earned his J.D. from George Mason University School of Law. Mr. Lynch taught bankruptcy law in the paralegal program at Roger Williams University and has taught Corporations, Federal Jurisdiction and Bankruptcy Law at the UMass School of Law – Dartmouth (formerly the Southern New England School of Law). He has been an adjunct professor of bankruptcy law at Suffolk University Law School since 2000.
