Janet Donovan manages the Legal Advocacy Program at Casa Myrna Vazquez, Inc., a multi-service domestic violence agency in Boston, Massachusetts. For several years before attending law school, Janet taught school in Puerto Rico. A graduate of Suffolk University Law School, Janet spent two years as a judicial clerk and then went into private practice with a concentration in domestic relations, domestic violence, and child advocacy cases. She is a trustee and past president of the board of the Women’s Bar Foundation of Massachusetts. She is a recipient of the Women’s Bar Association’s Leila J. Robinson Award for her contributions to the legal field and its Pro Bono Publico Award for her leadership in pro bono initiatives and her mentoring of young attorneys. Janet is past president and a long time member of the board of the Massachusetts Law Reform Institute and a member of the Massachusetts Domestic and Sexual Violence Council. She served on the advisory board of the Dorchester Domestic Violence Court, a five-year pilot project sponsored by the Department of Justice. In addition to participating on numerous educational panels, Janet’s experience includes teaching a Family Law Clinic at Northeastern University School of Law.
