Bernard M. Ortwein
Professor of Law

 S H O R T   B I O G R A P H Y

Professor Ortwein has been a member of the law faulty since 1973 and Director of the summer law program in Lund, Sweden since its inception 1999. A former Associate Dean at Suffolk Law School, Professor Ortwein currently teaches courses on Comparative Law, Comparative Criminal Procedure and Professional Responsibility. He is a member of the American Association of Comparative Study of Law and has lectured on comparative law issues throughout the world, including, Belgrade Law Faculty, Belgrade, Serbia/Montenegro, Charles University Law Faculty, Prague, Czech Republic, Hanoi Law University, Hanoi, Viet Nam and Universidad Panamericana, Guadalajara, Mexico. Professor Ortwein has taught courses on the American Legal Tradition to Vietnamese Masters of Law students a number of times at the University of Lund where he also spent time as a Visiting Professor of Law. Professor Ortwein was awarded an Honorary Doctor of Law Degree by Lund University in 2007.
