Scott Pierce has been practicing intellectual property law, in particular patent law, since 1987, and has been a partner at Hamilton, Brook, Smith & Reynolds in Concord since 1995. His patent law practice is concentrated in the areas of biotechnology, chemistry, chemical engineering and pharmaceuticals. In addition to preparing and prosecuting US and foreign patent applications, he files and prosecutes trademark applications, conducts due diligence analyses and prepares legal opinions directed to patent infringement, inventorship and validity issues. He also reviews license agreements, supports litigation, and sits on patent committees of biotechnology-based clients. Mr. Pierce is registered to practice before the US Patent and Trademark Office and is a member of the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, the Boston Patent Law Association and Tau Beta Pi. He holds a BSE in chemical engineering, BS in business administration, and MBA, all from the University of Connecticut., and a JD from the State University of New York at Buffalo, where he was a Senior Editor of the Buffalo Law Review.
