Trial Competitions

Overview

The Suffolk University Law School Moot Court Board is proud to host two trial competitions each year for upper level Suffolk Law students.  Each year, the Moot Court Board hosts a Third Year Day/ Fourth Year Evening Competition and a Second Year Day/Third Year Evening Competition in the Fall Semester. 

These competitions provide students with an opportunity to further their oral advocacy skills and sharpen their courtroom presence outside of the classroom.

Third Year Day/ Fourth Year Evening Trial Competition

The Suffolk University Law School Moot Court Board hosts a prominent trial competition for upper level law students in the third year day division or fourth year evening division each October.  Students compete in two-member teams and prepare opening statements, direct and cross examinations of witnesses and closing arguments.  Students are judged by prominent judges, lawyers, and professors on their oral advocacy skills in the Third Year Day/ Fourth Year Evening Trial Competition.

Eligibility:   Students are eligible if they are a Third-Year Day Division student or Fourth-Year Evening Division student.

Second Year Day/ Third Year Evening Trial Competition

Each Fall, the Suffolk University Law School Moot Court Board hosts a major trial competition for upper level law students in their second or third year.   Students compete individually and prepare an opening statement, direct and cross examinations of witnesses and a closing argument.  Prominent judges, lawyers, and professors judge the competitors on their oral advocacy skills.

Eligibility:   Students are eligible if they are a Second-Year Day Division student or Third-Year Evening Division student.
