Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Mediation Guidelines

The term "ADA mediation," applies to programs mediating claims arising under the Americans with Disabilities Act and other disability civil rights statutes, such as the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, the Fair Housing Amendments Act of 1988, and comparable state and local civil rights laws, but not the issues of special needs education.

Association for Conflict Resolution (ACR)

One of the nation's largest resources in the field, their library of resources is a good source of information, while their main page highlights upcoming events.

Cardozo Journal of Conflict Resolution

Formerly the Cardozo Online Journal of Conflict Resolution, archives from this academic publication are available online.

CPR Institute for Dispute Resolution

Nonprofit organization of corporations, law firms, and law teachers established to explore new uses of ADR for business and public disputes.

Divorce Mediation Process

An article originally written for the benefit of lawyers and therapists to familiarize them with the mediation process and the importance of making their clients aware of the option to mediate when facing the divorce process.

Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) Mediation Program

See also an evaluation of the EEOC program, the largest workplace mediation program to date.

 
Findlaw: Dispute Resolution, Arbitration and Mediation
A good overall source for professional, business and international organizations, educational programs, and conflict resolution service providers.

Global Arbitration Mediation Association (GAMA)

With its searchable Arbitrator and Mediator database, GAMA was founded in 1995 as the world's first on-line ADR forum, and has even included a digital way to "draw straws" in order to help disputants choose a mediator or arbitrator without the need for greater hostility.

Indiana Conflict Resolution Institute (ICRI)

The ICRI "projects" page includes links to studies on REDRESS (Resolve Employment Disputes, Reach Equitable Solutions Swiftly) at the USPS (United States Postal Service), the most noteworthy transformative mediation model to date; The U.S. Departments of Agriculture and Justice; the National Institutes of Health, and numerous other state and federal agencies' dispute resolution projects. The Publications page is also worth a visit.

Judicial Mediation

Describes judicial mediation in a global setting.

Kukin Program for Conflict Resolution

A comprehensive resource center covering academic dispute resolution programs, conflict resolution organizations, journals, and even potential employment opportunities.

National Association of Securities Dealers Arbitration/ Mediation

The primary private-sector regulator of America's securities industry also operates the largest securities dispute resolution forum in the world, processing over 8,000 arbitrations and 1,000 mediations a year.

National Institute for Advanced Conflict Resolution

Includes resources on mediation training, finding a mediator, mediation articles, and strong links to other existing resources. See also their blog choices, linked below.
 

Online Journal of Peace and Conflict Resolution (OJPCR)

Published by the Tabula Rasa Institute, OJPCR is a free online resource for students, teachers and practitioners in fields relating to the reduction and elimination of destructive conflict.

Permanent Court of Arbitration(The Hague)

Established for the settlement of disputes between States(or organizations of States) and disputes between States and private parties.
Program on Negotiation at Harvard Law School
Consortium of Harvard, MIT, and Tufts University. Established to provide scholars, practitioners, and students with training and educational programs, publications, and other resources on negotiation.

Transformative Approaches to Conflict

One of several sites created by the University of Colorado Conflict Research Consortium, this site addresses the transformative style of mediation.

United States Postal Service (USPS) Mediation Program Results

While some information on this program is also available through ICRI, above, this pdf document reflects the largest use of transformative mediation to date.

Virginia State Courts

Offers some helpful information about mediation, particularly as relates to a court-referred mediation program. The links to commonly used forms are also helpful to provide a view of what one might expect during a mediation.

 

Virtual Magistrate

Provides online dispute resolution for computer users, computer operations and persons harmed by posting online wrongful messages.

Wex: ADR

The Legal Information Institute, based out of Cornell Law, offers the legal basis for dispute resolution in both federal and state statutes and decisions, as well as a very brief overview of ADR itself.

WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Center

Forum for resolution of international commercial disputes involving intellectual property.

 

ADR Blogs

ADR All-Stars

While infrequently updated, the site still offers informative interviews with a variety of practitioners.

ADR Diversity

While the title is ADR Diversity, the main page seems to be more about postings/ essays/musings about the similarity of, and the applicability to, ADR and pop culture. There are, however, links to more specifically diversity-related articles.

The Directory of Alternative Dispute Resolution Blogs

This global collection categorizes ADR blogs either alphabetically, by country, or by category, as well as offering resources about blogging and ADR.

Online Guide to Mediation

Marblehead, MA's Diane Levin hosts an internationally known blog offering information, news, and commentary (not to mention the occasional offbeat story) on mediation, negotiation, law, and conflict management.

The National Institute for Advanced Conflict Resolution (NIACR)

NIACR has helpfully chosen their top 5 mediation blogs, incorporating readability and innovation among the factors determining the decision.

Mediation Mensch

Specifically targeted to the practicing mediator, this companion blog to ADR Practice Builder updates frequently and addresses issues relating to the practice and business of ADR. Also Boston-based.

National Arbitration Forum Blog

One of the few ADR sites to focus more on arbitration than mediation or communication.

Negotiation Tip of the Week  

This innovative blog delivers its information in Podcast, rather than article, form—perfect for aural learners.

 

Lexis and Westlaw

Lexis
For ADR sources on Lexis, select Area of Law-By Topic: Alternative Dispute Resolution. Includes cases, statutes, law reviews, treatises, legal news, reference materials, and Model ADR Practices and Procedures.
Westlaw
