VIRUS PREVENTION

Computer viruses and other "malware" are a continuing source of pain and suffering for all computer users. They destroy files, make computer networks unusable and cost individuals and organizations millions of dollars. But you can help prevent this problem.

1) VIRUS UPDATES AND SCANNING

Update the virus definitions of your virus protection software on your laptop.  Also, set your software to run updates automatically daily.  If your notebook detected a virus, stop by computer services to be sure it has been cleaned.

2)  SPYWARE

You should also be aware of spyware which can adversely affect your laptop.  We recommend you download an antispyware program which will scan and remove spyware and prevent further spyware from infecting your machine.  The following are two possible options:

1) Spy Sweeper www.webroot.com

- $29.95 for a year subscription

- Highest rated antispyware software

2) Microsoft Antispyware www.microsoft.com

- Free

- Microsoft=s (BETA) version of an antispyware software

3) WINDOWS UPDATE

Perform a windows update, and install essential security updates.

1) Go Internet Explorer

2) Under Tools, Choose Windows Update
