CHARTING A COURSE FOR SUCCESS : NATIONAL ASSOCIATION FOR LAW PLACEMENT PRINCIPLES AND STANDARDS

The National Association for Law Placement (NALP) is a professional association that provides leadership and expertise in legal career planning, recruitment and hiring, employment, and professional development of law students and graduates. NALP is the premier source of education, professional development, guidance and support for member organizations and their representatives.

NALP is the foremost proponent of ethics and fairness in legal recruitment and hiring. They emphasize a cooperative effort between law students, law schools and legal employers to maintain an appropriate balance between the academic preparation of law students for the profession and the recruitment of students for professional positions. This cooperative agreement is recorded in the Principles and Standards for Law Placement and Recruitment Activities. Law schools and legal employers who are NALP members have agreed to support the ethical recruiting practices set forth in these guidelines.

The Career Development Office at Suffolk University Law School is a member organization and adheres to the principles and standards of legal recruitment and hiring set forth by the NALP.

To review these principles and standards, especially the section on the timing of offers and decisions, please visit the NALP website.
