SECURITY
Your safety and health as well as the protection of the work environment are some
of the University’s greatest responsibilities. The University operates in accordance
with applicable state, federal and local health, safety and environmental regulations
and strives to furnish you an environment free from recognized hazards. The University
also expects you to comply with the regulations which are applicable to your own work
area, actions and conduct. Please report all potential hazards to the Office of Environmental
Health & Safety (617) 573-8628.
The University Police Department provides protection and assistance to the University

(As an active member of the Security Committee, I am always available to discuss safety
concerns and ideas for improvement!)
You are responsible for insuring safety and security by assuring that pocketbooks
and other valuables are not left unattended and by locking offices or belongings even
if you leave for only a short period of time. *Workstation desks are not secure and
should not be used to lock up valuables. Please contact the Director of Support Services
for suggestions on the best places to keep your personal effects.
If you see something suspicious (for example, an unidentified and seemingly abandoned
bag), don’t touch it. Note its location and contact the University Police.
If you see a suspicious person, take note of their behavior, description (hair color,
approximate height and weight, clothing), and location and contact the University Police.
If you are leaving late at night, or taking evening classes, take advantage of Suffolk’s
walking escort service to Park Street T Station, Gov’t Center T Station, Charles River
Parking Garage, Staniford Street Parking Garage or Somerset Street Parking Garage.
The service is available between dusk and 11:30 p.m. (Contact the Campus Police, x8333,
for more information.)
