View Classes by Term
CampusCruiser allows you to view the classes you are enrolled in and all the classes at your school by term. This feature helps you locate the classes you are searching for quickly and easily and is found on the MyCruiser page, the All Classes page, and the My Classes page.
E-mail
Auto Refresh - Campus Cruiser checks for incoming e-mails at regular intervals while you are on the Check E-mail page or the Folders page. You have the option of having your incoming e-mails checked every 5, 10, 15, or 30 minutes.
Compose Mail Page - On the Compose Mail page you can choose the To, CC (carbon copy), and BCC (blind carbon copy) options for e-mail recipients in your address book and the User Directory from a single dialog box. You can also use this dialog box to search for users in both your address book and the User Directory..
Accessing the Compose Mail Page from the User Directory - With Campus Cruiser version 3.3, when you click the on an e-mail address from the User Directory, you go directly to the Compose Mail page, where you can compose an e-mail as you would if you clicked Compose from the Tools menu on the E-mail second-level tab. In addition, you may make a collection of recipients with the “Add to the collection” feature, compose and send an email to those selected.
Multiple Campus Log In
With Multiple Campus Log In, users at single-domain universities that have multiple campuses can log into their campus from any campus in the university. This means all members in the university, regardless of the campus to which they belong, can log in from the same URL. Once logged in, a user will be presented with his/her MyCruiser page.
Printing
Numerous Campus Cruiser pages now contain a Printer Icon . This icon allows you to access a new browser window that contains only pertinent content and menus. When you select the "Print" option from this new browser window, only the pertinent content that is displayed will be printed.
User Directory
You can access your Campus Cruiser 's User Directory by clicking the Campus Life First-level Tab, and then clicking the Directory Second-level Tab. When you access the directory, you can search for members by one or more of the following methods:
by Division
by Department
by E-mail Address
by First and / or Last Name
You can also have the User Directory list all Campus Cruiser users. Once users are listed, you can send E-mail messages
to selected users. If any users have created Personal
Web Pages, or Personal
Photo Albums for
public viewing, then the User Directory will provide icons which will allow you to view them.
Under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974, as amended, students may “opt out” of campus
directories by filing a Non Disclosure form (add link to FERPA form)
Calendar Functions
Your can view events from numerous calendars at once when viewing your Personal Calendars.
You can send invitations to other Campus Cruiser members to join you as you schedule events into your Personal Calendars. Members can reply to your invitations as well to let you know of their RSVP status.
You can search among different calendars to see where free time exists among your events.
You can share events from other calendars (i.e., those for the entire campus, or those in your classes, clubs, etc.) into your own Personal Calendars.
"private" and "public" in CampusCruiser
Photo Albums, Clubs/Activities, Offices and Committees can be set to be either public or private. Setting a Photo Album to be "private" means that only the album's owner(s) may view the album, as well as any others who the owner allows to view the album. When a Club, Office or Committee is set to private, invitations must be sent to let other Campus Cruiser users become members to the group.
Personal Web Pages
Each Campus Cruiser user is allowed to create Personal Web Pages, using built-in Campus Cruiser templates.
No knowledge of programming or HTML is required. Different templates allow for different page layouts, different
background and text colors, and images may also be included. You are given a unique URL (Uniform Resource Locator)
that will allow anyone to view your pages, even if they are not Campus Cruiser members. To begin creating your Personal
Web Pages, access the My Cruiser First-level Tab, and then the Personal Tools Second-level Tab.
Like the Personal Photo Albums feature, Personal Web Pages are for your enjoyment.
Note: You cannot use publishing tools such as FrontPage, Netscape Composer or Dreamweaver to upload
your own webpages.
Personal Photo Albums
Like the Personal Web Pages , your Personal
Photo Albums are for your enjoyment (accessible from the My Cruiser First-level Tab, and then the
Personal Tools Second-level Tab). You can keep an on-line Photo Album of your favorite pictures. Photo Albums
can be either
public or private . If your album is public, then other Campus Cruiser members can view your albums; if your album is private, then only you and others who you invite can view your album (for safety reasons, Campus Cruiser Administrators may also access private photo albums). Whether albums are public or private, you have the option of sharing the URL (Uniform Resource Locator) so that others may view your photo albums, even if they are not Campus Cruiser members. Photo Albums also provide a "Comments" section, where viewers can leave comments to you about your pictures.
Chat Rooms
CampusCruiser 's Chat Rooms allow you to chat with your friends on-line. When you enter a Chat Room, other users can see your Log in ID to identify you. After you enter the room, you have the option of engaging in a private 1-on-1 chat with another user. Private chat rooms allow only two people to chat at one time, and are conducted separately and privately away from the main Chat Room. Chat rooms are not available in all areas.
Clubs/Activities, Offices, and Committees
The main difference among these groups is the members within them and their roles within your campus community. Clubs/Activities are intended for extracurricular or recreational groups; Offices are intended for members of different offices in your campus; Committees are intended for members who chair any committees in your campus community. However, each of these groups have the same Campus Cruiser features, which are specifically for use by the group's members:
- Calendars
- Photo Albums
- Message Board
- Chat Room
- Calendars
- Address Book
- To Do List
- Shared Files
- Shared Links
What is the difference between "Joining" and "Subscribing"?
Certain groups and organizations in Campus Cruiser will allow non-members to either join the group, or subscribe to the group. When you attempt to join a group, you are essentially asking the host of the group if you can participate in the group with full membership privileges. When you subscribe to a group, you are allowed to view some information about the group, but do not have full membership privileges. Subscribing to a group does not require the group host's permission. You may subscribe to different classes in Campus Cruiser , but class members can only be added by the instructor of the class, Campus Cruiser Administrators, or data feeds.
To join a Club in your campus, do the following:
Click on the Campus Life First-Level Tab and then the Clubs/Activities Second-Level Tab.
Click on the "All Clubs" menu option from the left to display a list of all Club categories.
Click on any category to see a list of its subcategories and Clubs. Clubs will be listed in a table.
Click on any Club name from the table to access the Welcome page of the Club.
In the Welcome page of the Club, click on the Join - club name - option. This will bring up an online form which you can fill out and request enrollment as a member.
Fill out the form and click the Submit Request button in the form. Your form will be sent to the Club Administrator, who will then decide if you can join the Club.
