Students Entering Second Year Day:
 

A Day student entering the second year will have earned 30 credits towards the Juris Doctor degree. To complete the remaining 54 credits, a second year student must complete 27 credits in 2008-2009 and 27 credits in 2009-2010; to complete the required 84 credits.

A Day student may enroll in up to 15 credits but not less than 13 credits each semester and enroll in up to 30 credits but not less than 27 credits per year. Students who enroll in 27 or more credits during the 2008-2009 academic year are also subject to a minimum credit requirement of 27 in the 2009-2010 academic year.

Second Year Day students who enroll in a summer course(s) may apply those credits to the final semester of study. (See Summer School Section) This does not apply to students who transferred from the first year evening to the day division, who enroll in only one summer session.

 
Students Entering Third Year Day:
 

A Day student entering the third year will have earned 56 or more credits at the end of 2007-2008 academic year towards the 84 credits needed for the Juris Doctor degree.

A Day student who earned 57 credits or more at the end of 2007-2008 must still meet the minimum yearly requirement of 27 credits in 2008-2009, unless additional credits were earned through a summer program. (See Summer School Section)

A Day student may enroll in up to 15 credits but not less than 13 credits each semester and enroll in up to 30 credits but not less than 27 credits per year. A day student who will have earned 56 credits at the end of 2007-2008 must enroll in at least 28 credits in the 2008-2009 academic year to meet the total 84 credit requirement.

SUMMER SCHOOL CREDITS - DAY STUDENTS ONLY
 

Credits earned during a Summer Session(s) may be applied to the final semester to reduce the final semester credit requirement without permission. A Day student attending only one Summer Session must have enrolled in 4 or 5 credits (one or two courses) to reduce his or her final semester credit requirements to fewer than ten credits and qualify for reduced tuition on a per credit basis..

*DAY STUDENTS MAY NOT USE SUMMER SCHOOL CREDITS TO ELIMINATE THE FINAL SEMESTER

If over 2 academic years, a day student completed 56 credits, the normal minimum credit hour requirement for the 2008-2009 academic year is 28 credits and if the student also completed credits over the summer, those credits can be applied to the final semester as follows:

Students Entering Second Year Evening:
 

The second year class is divided into 2 sections, 5A and 5B. Section 4A students advance to section 5A; 4B students advance to 5B.

An Evening student entering the second year will have earned 21 credits at the end of 2007-2008 academic year towards the Juris Doctor degree. The 63 remaining credits needed to complete the required 84 credits may be accomplished within the yearly guidelines set below:

* Evening students are required to enroll in a minimum of 21 credits per year.

An Evening student may enroll in up to 12 credits but not less than 9 credits each semester and enroll in up to 24 credits but not less than 21 credits per year. Students who enroll in 22 credits or more may not apply additional credits to a subsequent semester and must continue to enroll in at least 21 credits per year.

Students Entering Third Year Evening:
 

An Evening student entering the third year will have earned 41 or more credits at the end of the 2007-2008 academic year towards the 84 credits required for the Juris Doctor. The 43 remaining credits may be accomplished within the guidelines set below:

* Evening students are required to enroll in a minimum of 21 credits per year; since the first year requirement was only 20 credits, one year beyond the first year must total 22 credits.

An Evening student may enroll in up to 12 credits but not less than 9 credits each semester and may enroll in up to 24 credits but not less than 21 credits per year.

An Evening student who has earned 42 credits or more must still meet the minimum yearly requirement of 21 credits during the 2008-2009 academic year.

Students Entering Fourth Year Evening:
 

An Evening student entering the fourth year will have earned 63 credits or more at the end of the 2007-2008 academic year towards the 84 credits required for the Juris Doctor degree.

Students who have completed less than 63 credits must register for 22 credits or more during the 2008-2009 academic year.

An Evening student may enroll in up to 21 credits but not less than 9 credits each semester and not less than 21 credits per year, unless credits were earned in a summer session(s). (See Summer Session)

SUMMER SCHOOL CREDITS - EVENING STUDENTS
 

Credits earned during the Summer Session(s) may be applied to the final semester without permission. An Evening student attending only one Summer Session must have enrolled in 3-6 credits to reduce his or her final semester credit requirements to 6 credits or less and thus qualify for reduced tuition on a per credit hour basis.

If over 3 academic years, an evening student completed 63 credits, the normal minimum credit hour requirement for the 2008-2009 academic year is 21 credits and if the student also completed additional credits over the summer, those credits will be applied to the final semester as follows:

An evening student who enrolls in 9-12 credits over 2 summers may be eligible to eliminate the final semester entirely and graduate in January; provided the student enrolled in at least 4 credits and earned a minimum of 9 credits.

Any evening student who registers for 7 or more credits will be charged tuition at the regular rate. An Evening student enrolling in less than 7 credits in a semester and receiving Financial Aid is advised to consult with the Financial Aid office as to the affect tuition reduction will have on the Financial Aid Award for the 2008-2009 academic year.

Students who are planning to graduate in 3 1/2 years are required to notify the Registrar in writing of his/her intention to eliminate the final semester of study to ensure that all requirements will be met.

Students should communicate with the Registrar concerning January graduation as early in their academic year as possible to plan an academic plan to meet this objective.
